SAQCC Gas recently launched their CoC application on 1 March 2021. The revolutionary app has joined many in the digitization of administration to streamline processes and is available to all practitioners through the Google Play App Store. The South African Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SARACCA) is featured on the app which means that members will be able to use the app to fill out CoC applications.
With the introduction of the application, this is the first step in phasing out the manual CoC’s which is important for SARACCA members to take note. The wave of the Covid-19 pandemic intensified the need to introduce measures which allow the country to continue to run, despite minimal contact. The CoC app was in the pipeline however the need to avoid delays sped up its inception. The app download is free, however every page of the CoC is R15. This amount excludes VAT.
The application is only available on Android for now and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store by searching “SAQCC Gas CoC”. The app is also not compatible with laptops and can be used on tablets and smartphones which meet the minimum requirements.
The minimum technical specs for the app to run successfully on an Android Tablet/Device is Android 5.1 or 6.1 and above with a minimum 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (ideally 32GB), online capability using 3G or 4G and a back camera.
Steps to register on the app are as follows:
Registering on the app requires new users to select the “not yet registered” option, fill in their SARACCA license number as their registration ID and South African ID or Passport number. If users utilize a Passport number, zeros must be added at the end of the number to make it 13 digits. After this, complete the steps which the app prompts you to.
Practitioners must note that the maximum number of CoC’s one can purchase is 10 per person. Payments are made via EFT or a Pay Now option and are followed by tax invoices. The CoC app becomes compulsory in August this year- up until then, users are able to fill in manual CoC’s. Unused paper based CoC’s can be used until all are used up. It is important that the switch to the online CoC system is done sooner rather than later. CoC’s on the app can be saved and returned to at a later stage. The app allows for electronic signatures where clients (or proxy) must sign once installation is completed onsite. The signing takes places after practitioners have filled out the owner’s details for the CoC.
The current SAQCC Gas Electronic CoC is applicable to member associations South African Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SARACCA) and others Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association of South Africa (LPGSA), Southern Africa Compressed Gases Association(SACGA), and Southern African Gas Association (SAGA).
